Abstract
The current trend in drop foot syndrome medical rehabilitation is to ever more often use functional electrical stimulation (FES). The syndrome occurs frequently in patients after brain injury. A significant part of the overall injury treatment costs consists of expenses associated with the consequences of the drop foot syndrome, the syndromes' compensation and rehabilitation and the integration of the patients back into the society. It is therefore desirable to monitor the expenses associated witch such treatment and seek to improve it's effectiveness. To make accurate assumptions and decisions about the costs of treatment it is often necessary to combine knowledge from various medical, technological and economical fields. This thesis aims to evaluate the effectiveness of FES throughout these areas.
