Abstract
Disertační práce se zabývá aplikovaným výzkumem v oblasti obohacení metadat, geografického hledání, online zpřístupnění a především kolaborativního georeferencování naskenovaných starých map ve webovém prohlížeči. Hlavními výsledky jsou sada open-source nástrojů, služeb a produktů pro paměťové instituce zpřístupňující staré mapy, především pak MapTiler, IIPImage JPEG2000 a online služby StareMapy.cz a OldMapsOnline.org. Autor představuje nové unikátní technologie, aplikované na mapové kolekce v ČR i v zahraničí, které usnadňují a automatizují procesy v knihovnách a archívech, a otevírají nové možnosti zpracování a nalezení velkého množství map odborníkům i široké veřejnosti.
The doctoral thesis applies research in the area of metadata enrichment, geographical search, online publishing and especially collaborative georeferencing of scanned old maps in a web browser. The main results of this work are a set of open-source tools, services and products for culture heritage institutions holding old maps, especially MapTiler, IIPImage JPEG2000 and online services StareMapy.cz a OldMapsOnline.org. The author introduces new unique technologies, applied in Czech Republic as well as abroad, able to simplify and automate processes in libraries and archives, and to discover large number of scanned maps and conduct research by the experts as well as the general public.
