Abstract
Práce ukazuje, že diskrétní elektronová struktura kvantových teček poskytuje konkurenceschopné detekční citlivosti a umožňuje nahlédnout do neprozkoumaných oblastí energií detekce temné hmoty.
This thesis computationally investigates silicon quantum dots as novel detectors for sub-GeV dark matter using density functional theory calculations. We analyze six quantum dot configurations to examine how quantum confinement affects electronic properties relevant to dark matter-electron interactions. Material response functions are calculated for effective field theory operators, enabling predictions of dark matter interaction rates. The work demonstrates that the discrete electronic structure of quantum dots provides competitive detection sensitivities and access to unexplored energetic space in dark matter searches.
