SGS19/193OHK4/3T/14. This thesis deals with the interaction of uranium with hydrated cement paste CEM I and selected organic compounds in alkaline environment. Grinded cementitious material was used for a study of equilibrium sorption of the 233U. Variables were liquid to solid ratio, composition of the initial solution and concentration of uranium. Sorption experiments were evaluated by distribution ratio Rd. Another part of this thesis besides laboratory experiments is modelling of uranium speciation in PhreeqC. This numerical study focuses on the influence of the components of the system on the speciation of uranium in strongly alkaline environment. The topic of this thesis is a part of WP3 CORI (Cement-Organic-RadionuclideInteractions), which is one of the research fields of the European project EURAD (European Joint Programme on Radioactive Waste Management). The goal of WP3 CORI is to evaluate the influence of degradation of organic additives in concrete and organic nuclear waste bounded in the cement matrix on the transport of radionuclides in cementitious or concrete environment. With these results, evaluating the safety of nuclear waste repositories in Czech Republic is possible. The research leading to these results has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Innovation Programme under grant agreement n° 847593 (EURAD – CORI). The output was created with financial participation of SÚRAO (Czech Radioactive Waste Repository Authority) (SO2020-017). This contribution is also partially a result of the grant of the CTU Student Grant Scheme No. SGS22/187/OHK4/3T/14.
