Abstract
The aim of this diploma thesis was to design a multifunctional building focused on seniors. The work is based on a pre-diploma project that addressed the urban development of a new district in PragueSedlec. The project targets active seniors and their life in a safe and community-oriented environment. The location is in Prague 6 Sedlec, near the Podbaba Cliffs. The site itself is situated in close proximity to the natural monument Podbabské skály. The building consists of four connected structures forming a closed and secure atrium full of greenery, providing space for social interaction, building neighborly relations, and recreational activities. The buildings are connected by a residential gallery that links the atrium with the apartments. The apartments are designed for active seniors without disabilities, but the layout allows for the later installation of accessible features while maintaining the legally and normatively required clearances and dimensions. In addition to the apartments, the building includes a bistro with views of Troja and Bohnice, retail space, and a fitness center located on the upper floor. A large community room is also proposed for seniors, enabling various events, as well as rest and relaxation while enjoying meals prepared in a shared kitchen or reading books. The building is two stories high, partially basemented, with a highlighted corner at the main entrance. This corner features rooftop greenhouses with a pergola and seating, offering views of Prague while gardening. In the southwestern part, the second floor is partially recessed, creating a sheltered outdoor area with seating and panoramic views of Prague. The building structure is masonry with a monolithic foundation and basement. The floors are designed with prestressed hollow-core Spiroll panels. Partition walls are made of lightweight plasterboard. The building is designed to integrate into the proposed urban plan while preserving the natural character of the Podbaba Cliffs.
