This diploma thesis deals with the design of a smart toy for families with children with type 1 diabetes. It is divided into three basic parts - identifying user requirements, designing a smart toy for children with diabetes and research to determine whether the proposed solution would work in practice. For a comprehensive understanding of the issue, it was necessary to conduct a search of the current state. This chapter describes the clinical description of DM1 and specifies the problems that families face. Furthermore, the work deals with possible available solutions for monitoring and education of a child patient with diagnosed DM1 and the costs associated with the treatment and compensation of this disease. Last but not least, the work describes the influence of smart technologies on the quality of life of the patient and his family. The methodological part describes the methods that were applied in solving the work. The research was divided into two parts - qualitative and quantitative. In the qualitative part in-depth interviews were conducted with end users of the toy. Based on the obtained requirements and consultations with experts, a toy design was constructed. Subsequently, the model was verified by a questionnaire whether it will bring time or financial savings to families. The results elaborate the requirements of end users and present the design of the toy. At the same time, the outputs of the questionnaire survey, including an estimate of the selling price of the final product, are statistically processed here.
