This diploma thesis deals with the issue of heating sector. The introductory chapters are devoted to the description of the current state of the heating sector in the Czech Republic and the EU, including the currently valid regulatory and environmental aspects of the heating industry. Emphasis is placed primarily on describing the importance and current problems that this sector must face. At the end of this theoretical part, the Czech heating sector is set in the context of the EU and its possible future development is discussed. The main goal of this work is, in connection with the findings from the introductory chapters, to optimize the source base on a selected district heating system in the Czech Republic. The technical conditions and the current state of the heating system are respected, the description and analysis of which is given in a separate chapter. The optimization is performed using a compiled optimization model of linear programming, whose logic for selecting the optimal operating mode is based on maximizing the difference between revenues and variable costs from the operation of individual sources of the combined heat and power plant. From the technical and economic point of view, the optimization is evaluated for one hour of operation of the combined heat and power plant in time sections 2021, 2025 and 2030 for the summer, transitional and winter periods. The period differs from each other by the supplied heat output from the combined heat and power plant sources to the district heating system. Emphasis is placed primarily on the discussion and determination of the input economic factors of the model, the variability of which is considered for the year 2021 in the form of established scenarios. By evaluating the optimization for individual seasons and set scenarios of input commodity prices, the functionality of the compiled model is demonstrated, the potential of which lies in the ability to respond to input variability (especially prices of commodities on the daily market) and maximize the economic effect of the combined heat and power plant operation. Furthermore, changes in the use of the resource base are also observed. The future development of economic and technical factors is also discussed, which is considered in the prospective optimization in time sections 2025 and 2030. The conclusion of the work is devoted to a summary and comparison of optimization results.
