The main task of this thesis is to create an optimized algorithm, which can be used to detect blurring of the brain cortical gray-white matter boundary. Blurring is a pathological cause of the Focal Cortical Dysplasia (FCD). Location of the blurring areas are to be investigated with use of the magnetic resonance imagining (MRI). Focus of this thesis is the determination of locations of the blurring with the help of algorithm, which is processing the acquired data from the screenings. The idea is the comparison of the MRI examination's results of the patients with a high suspicion of FCD, with the results of MRI examination of healthy patients. The location of the blurring is to be determined based on the change of the signal on the brain cortical gray-white matter boundary, this determination is based on the mathematical calculations. The fundamental pillar of this research is research done by German scientists, however the task is to optimize the given procedure, considering the application on the specific patients and MRI protocols. Result of this optimization is the algorithm, which can be used, based on the mathematical comparison of the intensity of individual voxel masks, for the determination of signal changes in the brain tissue. MRI examinations of the brain of such patients are to be retrospectively evaluated by the experienced neuroradiologist, who does not possess the knowledge of the algorithm. Determination of the location of structural and signal changes in brain tissue serves mainly for consequent precise planning of the epileptic surgical resection
