In this thesis, a set of algorithms for an inverse solution was analyzed. These are heavily used in electrical impedance tomography. The main goal of this thesis was to establish the quality of the reconstructed image of the decomposition of impedance with point inhomogeneity. By the term point inhomogeneity, a small region with different impedance is meant. Furthermore, the reconstructed image of the decomposition of impedance was used to detect material defects of a simulated and real sample made of carbon composite. It had been assumed that the defect in the material would result in a point inhomogeneity in the reconstructed image. There was a description of several algorithms which were used in the inverse problem, together with the inverse regularization algorithms based on spectral filtering, linear inversion with regularization and nonlinear inversion with regularization. We also established an optimal value for a hyperparameter, which is there to control the trade-off between conformance to data and conformance to the prior. For this purpose, the following algorithms were employed: method L-Curve, Generalized cross-validation, method fixed noise figure, and method best resolution. In addition, we summarized and compared the chosen inversed method algorithms. As a primary indicator of relevance, we chose a detection location of point inhomogeneity. As it has already been mentioned, we tested algorithms on simulated data as well as on real measurements. For this purpose, we also implemented an algorithm for the detection of locations of point inhomogeneity. The correctness of these algorithms was based on two main factors. Firstly, on standard deviations of several locations of simulated point inhomogeneity. Secondly, on the level of deviations in several different inhomogeneities in real data measurement. Based on these measurements, we determined which of the tested algorithms reconstruct the point inhomogeneity from data most accurately. By testing data, we mean a specific type of signal load which determined the discrepancy between the signal and the noise. We also determined the best method for real data measurement based on the results of quality image reconstruction.
