S rozvojem ekonomiky a nárůstem populace celosvětově stoupá množství vyráběného stavebního materiálu na bázi cementu, spotřeba energie i produkce různých druhů odpadů. With the development of the economy and the growth of the population, the amount of cement-based building materials produced, the consumption of energy and the production of various types of waste are rising worldwide. Unfortunately, the negative impact on the environment is inherently associated with this trend. The dissertation is divided into two main parts. The first one focuses on the use of four types of polypropylene waste as a partial substitution of aggregate in the production of cement-based composites with improved thermal-insulation properties and the second for the use of two types of thermally treated sludge from sewage treatment plants as a partial replacement/addition of the cement in the production of cement-based pastes and concretes. Selected secondary raw materials were first analyzed in detail with regard to their intended use, and subsequently the samples were characterized in terms of their basic physical, mechanical, thermal and moisture properties
