The thesis is focused on the description of traditional carpentry joints and the calculation possibilities of their structural behaviour and load-bearing capacity during static loads. The design of carpentry joints was based on empirical relations that were defined by the handing over of craftsmanship between carpenters. Currently, these relations are insufficient and it's necessary to determine load-bearing capacity of individual joints. Unfortunately, current normative system does not provide sufficient support for the design and assessment of these carpentry details. Therefore, it is necessary to find a suitable method for describing structural behaviour and determining the load-bearing capacity of carpentry joints. In the thesis, besides the description of the carpentry details are design suitable computational models for describing the mechanical behaviour of carpentry joints. It is the main aim of this thesis. The models are verified by the experimental results of the selected joints.
