The intrinsic noise significantly affects kinetics of chemical reaction networks with small copy numbers of chemical species. The main aim of this thesis is to study oscillations between limit cycles of the chemical reaction network from [19]. In particular, methods based on Gillespie’s stochastic simulation algorithm and the chemical Fokker–Planck equation are presented in this thesis. Subsequently, periods of oscillations computed by the two approaches are compared for different choices of reaction rate parameters. It is shown that the chemical Fokker–Planck equation underestimates the periods of oscillations. Possible aspects causing this inaccuracy are outlined.
