This master's thesis is focused on the study of superconductivity theory and the measurement of critical current density in the second generation high-temperature superconductors. The theoretical part comprises introduction to basic theories (London equations, Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer theory, Ginzburg-Landau theory) and Bean model of critical state for II. type superconductors description, including Brandt and Clem-Sanchez solutions. Using the squid magnetometer with harmonic time-varying magnetic field, critical current density of the four second generation HTS samples producted by different companies, and one laboratory sample of low-temperature NbTi superconductor, were measured in accordance with Bean model.
