The development of a fire in a large-space fire section differs significantly from the development in a small fire section. In large-space objects, designing structures under a fire often proceeds through a performance-based approach. Advanced methods can be used in all parts of the design - in predicting the scatter of temperature field, in calculating the heat transfer to the structure and in assessing the mechanical behavior of the structure or its part in a fire. The prediction of the gas temperature in the fire compartment is crucial for the structure design. The thesis deals with the main issues of selecting different fire scenarios in the large-space building. The aim is to provide background for structural design in a fire using a performance-based design. A part of the thesis is a case study of a hall object solved by using FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator) software based on the CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) method. The study highlights the importance of considering several fire scenarios when designing buildings in a fire including fire spread.
