The aim of this bachelor thesis is to outline the use of pumping hydroelectric power plants for the electrical system of the Czech Republic. I first dealt with their world and Czech development and with the events that have influenced it. What is important for the analysis of this issue is the principle of these power plants, which I dealt with in Chapter 3. I have analysed in detail the individual parts of a power plant and described the principle of its operation. The parameter for assessing power plants is their energy balance. This parameter has been graphically processed for pumping hydroelectric power plants in the last 35 years. I have dealt more closely with the last 8 years. The effect of pumping hydroelectric power plants on the stability of the power grid is described in the last chapter using real situations in the electrical system.
