In the thesis there are briefly described the most significant nuclear power plants accidents especially accident at Chernobyl and Fukushima together with inventory of radionuclides released to the environment after the accidents. Next there is description of radiation monitoring around nuclear power plants and the situation of nuclear power around the world. Subsequently there is simulation of inner activity of LaBr3(Ce) scintillation probe and its response to selected radionuclides in the hemisphere geometry. Finally, energy distribution simulations of possible radionuclide release scenarios are performed.
