The dissertation is focused on the description and the innovative application of an ultrasonic testing of wood, which is one of the non-invasive non-destructive methods used for diagnostics of timber structures state. The method is particularly advantageous for historically valuable material as it does not cause damage during the measuring. Currently, the new modern way of repairing the damaged structural members by all-wooden carpentry joints is getting on slowly. The joints are more aesthetic and considerate of original timber construction than standard solutions, simultaneously they are demanding for high quality of execution that is necessary for the correct function. Therefore, an appropriate way of controlling their implementation and subsequent state monitoring of the repaired construction in the future is needed to be found. Ultrasonic testing has a great potential in this field. There is a description of the newly developed lap all-wooden joint besides the summary of the nondestructive ultrasonic testing topic in the dissertation. The main part is devoted to experimental research of the methods limits and to simulation of an innovative way of its usage, which is the main aim of the thesis.
