New composite materials find ever growing application in modern civil engineering. Nanotextiles is a new promising type of composite materials. Such textiles are produced from polymer solutions by electrospinning and possess a number of properties, which make them at attractive candidate for a wide spectrum of applications. These properties depend on microscopic structure of the material, which makes the study of the inner structure crucial for their successful application in civil engineering and other branches of industry. This thesis deals with analysis and modeling of structure of polymer nanotextiles. In the first two chapters the development of technology of nanotextile production and its current state are described. Chapter 3 makes the body of the thesis and describes the conducted experiments and theoretical models. Nanotextiles made of five polymers have been studied in the thesis: polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinyldelfluoride, polyurethane, polyacrilonitrile, and polyvinyl butyral. Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) has been chosen because of it does not require complex manipulations and nanotextile can be produced from a water solution. However, the solubility of PVA in water makes the polymer less favorable for civil engineering applications than other polymers. This is also the reason, why different stabilization methods for PVA nanotextiles are discussed in the thesis. The structure of nanotextiles has be analyzed by means of electron microscopy. Fibers diameter, distribution function of pores and other parameters important for numerical modeling have been determined. An analysis of an inner structure of the textiles is a prominent contribution of the thesis. To perform this task, cross sections of the textiles have been made and studied. Additionally, a mathematical model, allowing to estimate parameters important for numerical simulation, has been proposed. Furthermore, it has been determined how the technological process setup influences the structural parameters of the textiles. Last but not least, a computer program for modeling of 3D structure of a nanotextile has been written. Output of the program can be used for further simulation of physical process in the material by means of a specialized software. The completion of all of the abovementioned tasks is important for production of nanotextiles with predetermined properties in the future.
