| cze |
dc.description.abstract | Thermal strain of human organism is caused by two factors: external when man is exposed to the effect of thermal radiation or hot environment and internal when a change of inner organism environment occurs (physical activity, stress, illness). Fire fighter deals with combination of both factors. Recently, telemetric systems have been used to detect life functions of patients in home care. Today, an effort is made to implement these systems to the Integrated Rescue System. For the members of the fire department it means they are able to check if their life is being threatened, because they work in dangerous conditions. FlexiGuard system was used for the measurement of quantities (temperature of skin, temperature and relative humidity inside the uniform and activity rate). This system was developed in the cooperation of Faculty of Biomedical Engineering of Czech Technical University in Prague and First Faculty of Medicine of Charles University. The system is completely non-invasive. This bachelor thesis includes pilot measurement of the thermal strain. The experiment was divided into several phases. Proband in fire-fighting equipment was exposed to regulated heat in places where the sensors were located. Harvard StepTest and 15 minutes of bicycle ergometry followed. Afterwards the sweat-drenched uniform was exposed to regulated heat. Resting phases were included to eliminate escalated strain. The measurements show the dependence of the temperature under the uniform on the skin temperature. It can be seen from the results when the fire fighter was exposed to external or internal thermal strain. Threshold of feeling of uncomfortable warming was decreased by the increase of sweat in the uniform. The successful experimental measurement shows that it is possible to monitor and assess the fire fighter´s thermal strain by telemetric systems. | eng |
