This master´s thesis is focused on computational methods for the analysis of thin-wall and thick-wall composite beams with a pipe cross-section. In the work, methods for analytical computations (Timoshenko, ABD matrix, method of limit estimations) are described together with approaches for finite element analysis. The models were tested on a various scale of composite beam examples and their results were verified with experiments. A case study of the selected methods was performed on a wide range of composite beams with different lay-up and thickness. The suitable method was used to optimize the composite spindle.
