The study deals with comparing of study programs in biomedical engineering at European universities and job perspectives of their graduates. The history of biomedical engineering as an engineering branch is described. The definition of biomedical engineering is given, as well as a description of its individual disciplines and the methodology of data acquisition. The fourth chapter pursues the results - a list of European universities, where biomedical engineering study programs exist, and their short description. The results analysis shows, that biomedical engineering study programs can be found in whole Europe. The most frequent BME branches, which students are educated in, is Medical Instrumentation and Devices.
