This bachelor's thesis deals with automatic music genre classification. The goal is to create an algorithm able to distinguish music by music genres. At first, the audio signal is divided into smaller frames called segments and further into even smaller frames called minisegments. The MFCCs are taken from each minisegment. Using mean and standard deviation, the coefficients are integrated in a segment. We further use the k-NN algorithm to classify music genres. The following music genres are distinguished: Classical, Electro, Folk, Hip Hop, Jazz, Metal, Pop, Reggae. A total of 68,8 % success rate has been reached for the slower version and 67,2 % for the faster version of the algorithm.
