This bachelors thesis deals with the quality of perinatal care for newborns in a pre-hospital setting. The main aim of this thesis is to evaluate the preparedness of emergency medicine workers, including paramedics and physicians, in handling cases requiring perinatal care. The theoretical part focuses on the process of delivery, the fetal and maternal complications that may arise, and the difference between a newborn's physiological and complicated transition from intrauterine to extrauterine life. It also focuses on the training emergency medical service workers undergo about perinatal care, along with the equipment they use, and the logistics of transport. The practical part consists of processing findings from a questionnaire that was distributed to ambulance services in different regions of the Czech Republic. Through this investigation, the frequency of pre-hospital perinatal cases along with the frequency of training emergency medical service workers attend about perinatal care is analyzed.
