The diploma thesis deals with the theme of lightning and electric discharges and their artificial triggering. First, the basic concepts of lightning discharges are introduced, including the process of their generation. Next, the thesis focuses on artificial lightning discharge triggering techniques involving the use of rockets and lasers. Subsequently, a method of how lightning discharges can be artificially simulated using electrical discharges on a spark gap is also described. The practical part describes the actual design of triggering electrical discharges on a small spark gap using a laser beam. In the last economic part, the design is priced and then compared in terms of operating costs with the conventional method of triggering the discharges.
