The bachelor's thesis deals with winglets as devices for reduction of induced drag, particularly in the second part, with a winglet with a smooth transition "blended winglet." In the theoretical part, the thesis first deals with drag forces acting on the wing of an airplane and their analytical equations, then with theoretical knowledge of winglets, their individual types and a brief history. The next chapter outlines the use of a wing with a winglet and their design parameters. In the practical part of the work, the selected winglets are first modeled in the AUTODESK Inventor and then simulated using the ANSYS Fluent program. In particular, the influence of the angle of inclination „cant“ on the resulting increase or decrease of the lift to drag ratio. Subsequently, the work deals with the experimental measurement, of the forces acting on the wing in more realistic conditions, of the wind tunnel. At the end of the work, the results of simulation and experiment and their mutual comparison are discussed. Next, the most optimal design for a given application is discussed.
