The master thesis deals with the issue of audible noise of extra-high voltage overhead lines. One of the disturbing side effects associated with overhead power lines is the audible noise that occurs near the power lines. This noise must not exceed the prescribed limit value for protected areas of outdoor buildings. In terms of audible noise, the surface potential gradient of the electric field is a critical parameter in overhead line design. This work aims to determine the parameters of conductors and their geometry, at which the surface gradient is the smallest. The thesis also compares various calculations of audible noise with measured values on existing overhead lines. Further in the thesis, the measures for reducing the surface gradient are determined. These results can also impact the audible noise from overhead lines. In the final part, the aging of the conductors is monitored based on a comparison of measurements, carried out on the existing HVAC overhead line over the period of three years. Based on that we can observe the effect of surface aging on the audible noise of high voltage overhead transmission lines.
