This diploma thesis deals with the issue of diabetic retinopathy, screening, and treatment in connection with cost-effectiveness from the perspective of the insurance company and the use of QALYs as an effect of therapy. The aim of the work was to create a model of disease progression for the evaluation of a screening program. The method of discrete simulations (event simulation) was used to create this model, as well as HTA methods and sensitivity analyzes. According to the results of the simulations, screening is based on a dominant intervention, providing more effect at lower cost, but sensitivity analyzes, especially probabilistic sensitivity analysis, have shown heterogeneity of results.
