The main theme of this bachelor‘s thesis are molten salt nuclear reactors. The theoretical part of the study is focused on the history of the molten salt reactors and their individual projects processed in Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Furthermore, usable salts and computation codes for neutronic calculations like MCNP and Serpent are briefly elaborated in the study. In the experimental part of the study we are using the computational code Serpent for simulations of criticality. Firstly, we compare the theoretical migration areas for basic shapes of reactors (sphere, prism and cylinder) with the results of simulations and we search for ideal proportions of a cylindrical reactor. Then, we perform parametric critical studies of this cylindrical reactor depending on the construction materials, the types of shielding and the composition of the salts. The study ends with own design of the reactor, which is a breeding reactor with a two-fluid system.
