Boj se zvyšujícím se počtem úmrtí v důsledku kardiovaskulárních chorob vyžaduje interdisciplinární spolupráci kardiologie s dalšími vědními obory včetně matematiky. Matematické modely popisující strukturu a činnost srdce mohou ulehčit kupříkladu zkoumání poruch srdečního rytmu (arytmií). The fight against the increasing numbers of deaths due to cardiovascular diseases requires interdisciplinary cooperation between cardiology and other fields of science, including mathematics. Mathematical models that describe the structure and activity of the heart can facilitate, for example, the research of heart rhythm disorders (arrhythmias). This thesis studies reaction-diffusion equations, which are often employed in modelling of excitable media. First, the reader is acquainted with the physiological principles of heart activity, the most significant mathematical models of signal propagation and with the state of the art. The thesis then turns to systems of reaction-diffusion equations. With help of the theory of invariant regions it answers the question of the existence of a unique weak solution. Subsequently, the problem is generalized to parametric surfaces in three dimensions. Theoretical as well as computational results, supported by a quantitative analysis, are presented.
