The trend of the recent years in the sports biomechanics is to experimentally record sportsman's performances. We have decided to follow up with this concept and made endeavours to apply this idea to one particular sport - climbing. We consequently devote this work to the analysis of the improvement of instruments that measure sports-related force quantities with the aim of enhancing overall performance of athletes, in our case climbers. The primary focus of the thesis is to devise a new measuring unit which will possess the inner ability to measure force and torque components which are exerted on a climbing hold while being used in the act of climbing. On the basis of this assignment there are three designs in total that will be described in detail. The second one has been chosen as the most practical. It consists of the six-axis sensor embedded in the climbing hold. The designs have undergone a structural analysis to confirm their qualities.
