dc.description.abstractX-ray imaging is useful and abundant diagnostic tool in dentistry, andis commonly used for forensic human identification. This Bachelor Thesis is dedicated to creation of robustautomatic algorithm oflower and upper jaws separation working on panoramic x-ray images. The algorithm consistsof 3 parts: image cropping, image enhancing and segmentation. The cropping methodiscomputing cutters position with respect to anatomical properties of source image. Image enhancing is performed with histogram equalization and mathematical morphology. Segmentation comprises modified integral diagrams and distances transformmethods. The algorithm was successfully tested on set of 8 images of scanned dental radiographiescontaining different dental intervention, malaisesand missing teeth.
