The bachelor thesis focuses on the clinical and time comparison of dynamic and segmental technique of intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT). While the optimization of fluence is identical for both techniques in the Eclipse treatment planning system, there is a difference in the dose delivery. An important objective is to find out pros and cons of these techniques. The theoretical part of the thesis presents the results of several researches on this issue and also describes important algorithms of the Eclipse treatment planning system. In the practical part the creation of a clinical plan is delineated and then it presents the results of several plans created by myself. In general, these results match the conclusions of other researches. The segmental technique shows an equivalent dose distribution as the dynamic one, if at least ten intensity levels are used. In comparison with the dynamic IMRT, the segmental technique needs much less monitor units for the dose delivery, but the treatment time is significantly longer, the segmental technique requires twice as much time in extreme cases.eng
