This thesis is focused on the control strategy of the three-level neutral point clamped converter for variable speed drives and is divided into 2 parts. In the theoretical part are presented the conventional typologies of two-level and multilevel converters and modulation techniques that are used to control their output voltage. Further, the mathematical model of the induction motor and reference frames are derived, together with the control strategy of the induction motor. Finally, the struggles of controlling the variable frequency drives are described. The objective of the practical part is to make a functional model of the three-level converter and appropriate control strategy. The simulation model is made in the MATLAB Simulink environment with the use of Simscape library. The conducted simulations are then compared and evaluatedcze
