V případě kontaminace prostředí radioaktivními látkami je třeba lokalizovat její zdroje a vyhodnotit nebezpečnost těchto zdrojů. V této práci jsme shrnuli základní vlastnosti ionizující záření a možnosti jeho detekce pomocí pixelových detektorů. K lokalizaci zdrojů ionizujícího záření jsme sestavili dálkově ovládané robotické vozítko vybavené detektorem Timepix3. Navrhli jsme algoritmus k autonomnímu mapovaní kontaminace prostředí a hledání jejích zdrojů. Nakonec jsme provedli testování těchto algoritmů na sestaveném robotickém vozítku.; In a case of environment contamination with radioactive elements it is necessary to localize its sources and estimate their dangerousness. In this thesis, we have summarized the basic properties of ionizing radiation and the possibilities of its detection with pixel detectors. For the localization of ionizing radiation sources we have assembled a robotic vehicle equipped with Timepix3 detector. We have also devised an algorithm for radioactive contamination mapping and its sources seeking. For the case of successful source localization, we have designed a procedure for deeper source analysis. Finally, we have executed tests with the robotic vehicle.

Experimentální část popisuje konstrukci optické aparatury, výběr a kalibraci komponent a konfigurace umístění magnetů. Výsledky této studie potvrzuje poznatky o vlivu magnetického pole na polarizaci světla, což je klíčové pro další výzkum v oblasti kvantové optiky a fundamentální fyziky.; This bachelor thesis is devoted to the study of magnetic field homogeneity using the Faraday effect, focusing on the analysis of the influence of the position of permanent magnets on the polarization of the light beam. The thesis is motivated by the investigation of the vacuum birefringence, which demonstrates the interaction of electromagnetic fields with vacuum fluctuations of charged fermions. The theoretical part provides an overview of the magnetic birefringence, polarization and magneto-optical phenomena, including an analysis of vacuum birefringence measurement methods based on the PVLAS experiment in Italy. The experimental part describes the design of the optical setup, the selection and calibration of the components and the configuration of the magnet placement. Data from each configuration are processed using digital image processing methods to quantify the magnetic field homogeneity, with results visualized using plots and heat maps. The results of this study confirm the knowledge of the effect of the magnetic field on the polarization of light, which is crucial for further research in quantum optics and fundamental physics.

Druhá kapitola této práce je věnována experimentu STAR na RHICu, ze kterého pochází data pro analýzu pozorování částice J/ψ a specifické struktury interakčních bodů podél osy svazku, jejíž výsledky jsou probrány v poslední kapitole.; The physics of ultra-peripheral collisions, which occur at large distances of colliding nuclei, enables a number of possibilities for investigating electromagnetic interactions of colliding particles. Collisions take place at high energies and under precisely defined experimental conditions, where the interaction of colliding nuclei, protons or collisions of protons with heavy nuclei can be observed. The study of ultra-peripheral collisions of heavy nuclei also provides an insight into the properties of the quark-gluon plasma, i.e. the state of matter under extreme conditions of high densities and temperatures, which correspond to the state of the universe shortly after its creation after the Big Bang. The physics of ultra-peripheral collisions is discussed in the first chapter of this work. The particle accelerators enabling the discussed type of collisions include the LHC at CERN or the RHIC at BNL. The second chapter of this work is devoted to the STAR experiment at RHIC, from which data for the analysis of the observation of the J/ψ particle and the specific structure of the interaction points along the beam axis originated, the results of which are discussed in the last chapter.
