Automatizované testování v moderním DevOps prostředí

Abstract

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá obecným návrhem přístupu k automatizovanému testování agilně vyvíjených informačních systémů. Čtenář je nejprve stručně seznámen s problematikou testování software. Následuje podrobnější představení automatizovaného testování spolu s výhodami, které automatizace přináší, běžnými praktikami a také výzvami, se kterými se vývojáři testů setkávají. Práce dále stručně seznamuje čtenáře s konceptem DevOps a jeho přínosy do světa agilního vývoje software. Práce dále obsahuje rozbor vrstvy aplikace vhodné pro zavedení automatizovaného testování. Rozbor je založen na myšlence, že automatizované testování skrze grafické uživatelské rozhraní aplikace s sebou přináší mnoho komplikací, kvůli kterým je implementace a údržba testů obtížná a zbytečně nákladná. Hlavním zaměřením této práce je návrh procesů spojených s vývojem automatizovaných testů aplikace. Na základě odborných poznatků z teoretické části práce byly navrženy procesy, které cílí především na efektivní správu testovacích dat, jenž je pro udržitelný vývoj automatizovaných testů klíčová. Dle navržených procesů byla patřičně upravena demonstrační aplikace, která dále v práci slouží k demonstraci navržených procesů na několika situacích běžných pro vývoj software.This bachelor thesis deals with general approach to automated testing of agile information systems. The reader is first briefly familiarized with software testing. Following is a more detailed introduction of automated testing along with the benefits that automation brings, common practices, and the challenges that test developers face. The thesis also briefly introduces the DevOps concept and the benefits it brings to the world of agile software development. The work also includes an analysis of the application layer suitable for automated testing. The analysis is based on the idea that automated testing through the application's graphical user interface causes a lot of complications that make tests' implementation and maintenance difficult and unnecessarily costly. The main focus of this work is the design of processes associated with the development of automated application tests. Based on the expert knowledge from the theoretical part of the thesis, processes have been designed in a way that they primarily aim at effective test data management, which is crucial for the sustainable development of automated tests. According to the designed processes, a demonstration application has been modified accordingly, and it further serves to demonstrate the designed processes in several situations common to software development.
