Abstract
Projekt představuje návrh Národní knihovny v exponované lokalitě pražské Florence. Návrh reaguje na potřebu moderních prostor pro instituci i velkokapacitní archiv pro deset milionů svazků. Urbanistická kompozice je založena na čtveřici vertikálních hmot vyrůstajících ze společné podnože. Zatímco parter slouží veřejným funkcím knihovny, věže jsou vyhrazeny depozitářům. Fasáda z těžkého obvodového pláště s výraznými monolitickými a prefabrikovanými římsami zajišťuje tektonický výraz stavby a její citlivé včlenění do historického kontextu Prahy.
The project presents a design for the National Library in the prominent location of Prague's Florenc district. The proposal addresses the need for modern institutional facilities alongside a high-capacity archive for ten million volumes. The urban composition is based on four vertical volumes rising from a shared plinth. While the ground floor serves the public functions of the library, the towers are reserved for depositories. The heavy envelope facade, featuring prominent monolithic and prefabricated cornices, ensures the building's tectonic expression and its sensitive integration into the historical context of Prague.
