Vizualizace a prezentace historických prostorových jevů

Abstract

Disertační práce shrnuje výsledky výzkumné činnosti autorky ve dvou specifických oblastech historické kartografie: 1) tvorba tištěných historických map, a 2) prezentace historických map ve webovém prostředí. V teoretické části práce je nastíněn historický vývoj tematické kartografie se zaměřením na vývoj užívání kartografických metod v tematických mapách a rozebrány aktuální přístupy k tvorbě webových atlasů s historickou tematikou. Praktická část práce je v oblasti tvorby historických map věnována zejména problematice kartografické vizualizace nejistoty a časové dynamiky jevu ve statických mapách, a kartografické analýze atlasových děl s historickou tematikou. Na příkladu autorských map je také představen kompletní proces tvorby historické mapy či uveden přehled dostupných digitálních zdrojů historických dat. V oblasti prezentace historických map ve webovém prostředí se práce zabývá kompletním procesem tvorby webového mapového portálu s historickou tematikou, jež shrnuje v komplexní metodiku obsahující soubor pravidel a doporučení, které by měly být zohledněny při přípravě původně tištěných map (existujících ve vektorové formě) pro prezentaci v prostředí webu. V této souvislosti je navržena také typologie mapové funkcionality odvozená dle vybraných charakteristik mapy.The dissertation summarizes the results of the author's research in two specific areas of historical cartography: 1) the creation of printed historical maps, and 2) the presentation of historical maps in the web environment. The theoretical part outlines the historical development of thematic cartography focusing on the evolution of the use of cartographic methods in thematic maps, and discusses current approaches to the creation of web-based atlases with historical themes. In the field of historical map creation, the practical part of the thesis is mainly devoted to the problems of cartographic visualization of uncertainty and temporal data in static maps, as well as the cartographic analysis of historical atlases. The complete process of the creation of printed historical map is also presented, using the example of author's maps, along with an overview of available digital sources of historical data. In the field of presentation of historical maps in the web environment, the thesis deals with the entire process of developing a web map portal with historical themes, which is summarized in a comprehensive methodology that includes a set of rules and recommendations that should be considered when preparing originally printed maps (existing in vector form) for presentation on the web. In this context, a typology of map functionality derived based on selected map characteristics is also proposed.
