Abstract
This diploma thesis focuses on metallic foams, which have acquired such properties over the last 50 years of development that their very wide range of applications continues to expand. In general, metallic foams are materials with an artificially created porous structure that have very advantageous properties in terms of strength to weight ratio. In the theoretical part, the characteristic properties, suitable materials for the production of foams, examples of applications and some production methods are described. In the experimental part of the thesis, an attempt is made to produce aluminium foam using the powder metallurgy method in the school's operating laboratories.
